About the course
This course covers the theoretical and practical aspects of collecting specimens for drug and alcohol training in the workplace.

Course Content
This course provides the skills and knowledge to be able to safely perform drug and alochol testing in the workplace, that complies with Australian Standards.
Topics Include:
- Regulatory requirements
- Australian standards
- Risk and hazard identification and management
- Breath alcohol techniques and testing equipment
- Oral fluid (saliva) techniques and testing equipment
- Urine testing techniques and testing equipment
- Infectin control, safety and personal protective equipment
- Privacy, consent and testing procecedures
- Chain of custody

Entry Requirements
There are no prerequisite units. Participants will need oral communication skills to effectively collect specimence, complete testing record and chain of custody documentation.
Assessment Methods
Progressive assessment throughout the course, including demonstration of practical skills and written and oral questions relating to underpinning knowledge.
Award Issued
A nationally-recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued to all successful participants issued by Safeguard Training and Services (RTO 90987).
