Verification of Competency (VOC) Training

The Verification of Competency (VOC) course is designed to equip supervisors, assessors and experienced workers with the skills to verify that a person is competent to safely perform a task in a specific workplace.

​This course focuses on on-site verification, not initial training or the issue of qualifications. It is ideal for organisations that need to confirm worker competence for high-risk tasks, mobile equipment, plant operation, hand tools or site-specific activities before work is undertaken.

​This course is applicable across local government, manufacturing, mining, construction and other high-risk industries where verification of worker competence is required.

What This Course Covers

Participants will learn how to:

• Verify worker competence using observation, questioning and evidence

• Apply site-specific criteria when confirming competence

• Verify competence for workers who already hold qualifications, tickets or prior experience

• Identify gaps requiring further training, supervision or reassessment

• Complete verification of competency records that are clear, consistent and defensible

• Develop fit-for-purpose, compliant Verification of Competency (VOC) tools aligned to site and regulatory requirements

This is a non-accredited course delivered by Orana Skills Centre. Successful participants will receive a Certificate of Completion recognising their training in workplace Verification of Competency (VOC) processes aligned with industry and site requirements.
