About the course
This nationally accreddited course is designed to train people in how to conduct drug and alcohol testing. This course will enable students to understand how to complete alcohol and other drug testing in the workplace in a safe, legal and ethical manner.

It is a requirement for anyone collecting urine or oral fluid samples to meet Australian Standards and to be trained as a collector per AS/NZS 4308:2008, AS 4760:2019, and AS 3547:2019.
Course ContentÂ
This course provides the skills and knowledge to be able to safely perform drug and alochol testing in the workplace, that complies with Australian Standards.Â
Topics Include:
- Regulatory requirements
- Australian standards
- Risk and hazard identification and management
- Breath alcohol techniques and testing equipment
- Oral fluid (saliva) techniques and testing equipment
- Urine testing techniques and testing equipment
- Infectin control, safety and personal protective equipment
- Privacy, consent and testing procecedures
- Chain of custody

Entry RequirementsÂ
There are no prerequisite units. Participants will need oral communication skills to effectively collect specimence, complete testing record and chain of custody documentation.Â
Assessment MethodsÂ
Progressive assessment throughout the course,  including demonstration of practical skills and written  and oral questions relating to underpinning knowledge.Â
Award IssuedÂ
A nationally-recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued to all successful participants issued by Safeguard Training and Services (RTO 90987).
