About the Course

The S26 Statutory Supervisor course equips current and aspiring supervisors with the skills and knowledge to identify, assess, control and monitor workplace risks in line with WHS legislation and industry requirements. Participants learn to apply structured risk management processes, consult with workers and stakeholders, and implement and monitor workplace safety policies, procedures and programs.

Designed for those working or seeking to work in operational, supervisory or leadership roles, the course strengthens practical capability through realistic, scenario-based activities. Learners investigate workplace concerns and incidents, conduct hazard inspections, prepare risk assessments and control plans, deliver toolbox talks and complete WHS documentation aligned with workplace practice. The course also builds understanding of responsibilities under the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act, Regulations and relevant Codes of Practice.

By completion, participants will be able to support and oversee WHS systems, communicate safety requirements effectively and contribute to a safe and compliant work environment.

This course also meets the WHS risk management training requirements for various statutory roles in the Western Australian mining industry. Part 10.7A of the Western Australia Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 outlines statutory positions in relation to mine operations. These roles are appointed by the mine operator to fulfil specific duties critical to the safe and efficient functioning of a mine.
