Training Calendar

This course will provide individuals with the skills and knowledge required to perform the duties of a supervisor relevant to operational roles within the Civil Construction, Coal Mining, Drilling, Extractive, and Metalliferous Mining Industries. Upon completion of this course, individuals will be able to carry out or assist in carrying out risk assessment in the workplace, participate in work-related health and safety investigations, as well as plan and prepare for and conduct communication via a number of different methods to ensure work activities are understood.

 

This course may also be known as the G1, G8 and G9 Site Safety Supervisor’s Course (formerly S1, S2, S3 or Supervisor S123) course. Some industries recommend a refresher training be undertaken every 5 years.

  • RIIRIS301E Apply risk management processes

  • RIIWHS301E Conduct safety and health investigations

  • RIICOM301E Communicate information

Course Delivery

This course is delivered/assessed at Orana Skills Centre in Dubbo or can be delivered in your workplace or at facility organised by you.

 

Entry Requirements

An individual undertaking this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

  • The ability to read and write basic English and interpret workplace documentation, policies and procedures

  • The ability to communicate and use appropriate language and non-verbal features to provide support, give instructions or request information

  • Have basic computer skills to prepare and deliver a presentation/ graphical report using a clear and concise structure and format.

2 Days delivered face-to-face

 

Assessment Requirements

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

Assessment Activities

Practical assessment: 

Investigate a Health & Safety Concern, Apply Risk Management, and Communicate Information

  • Complete an initial assessment and investigation form

  • Complete a risk management form

  • Complete a hazard and incident investigation report

  • Complete a toolbox talk 

 

Participate in Conflict Resolution

  • Complete conflict resolution meeting notes (Meeting 1 and 2)

 

Conduct a Health & Safety Investigation and Apply Risk Management Processes

  • Complete an initial assessment and investigation form

  • Complete a risk management form

  • Complete a hazard and incident investigation report

 

Theory assessment: 

  • A written assessment consisting of multiple choice and short answer questions.

 

Core Skill Requirements

Students are required to complete a self evaluation against the following core skills as part of the enrolment process. This will allow your trainer to understand any additional support that may be required during the course delivery and assessment.

 

Learning - I can follow procedures, reflect on what I’ve learned, and apply it to solve safety problems and improve communication.

Reading - I can read and understand workplace policies, procedures, risk forms, and reports related to safety and communication.

Writing - I can clearly complete reports, records, and forms using the right workplace language and information.

Oral Communication - I can ask questions, share information, and explain issues or instructions clearly and respectfully in a workplace setting.

Numeracy - I can use basic numbers, times, and dates to assess risks, report incidents, and identify patterns or trends.
