About the course

This course covers the training requirements for planning for emergencies in facilities.

Course Content 

This course provides the skills and knowledge to be able to safely evacuate a workplace in an emergency situation.

  • Fire warden legal and regulatory requirements
  • Australian Standard 3745-2010 requirements
  • Investigating the fire/alarm/incident
  • Raising the alarm
  • Emergencies that may require evacuation
  • Bomb threat procedures
  • Fire warden training requirements
  • Building fire safety
  • Fire wardens procedures & responsibilities
  • Fire warden identification
  • Types of evacuation
  • Building fire alarms & communications systems
  • Developing evacuation plans & procedures
  • Emergency coordination
  • Human behaviour in emergencies

Entry Requirements 

There are no prerequisite units. Participants will need the ability to meet the physical demands to safely evacuate personnel from a facility. Participants will also  need oral communication skills to make an accurate verbal report to emergency services and workplace  supervisor. 

Assessment Methods 

Progressive assessment throughout the course,  including demonstration of practical skills and written  and oral questions relating to underpinning knowledge. 

Award Issued 

A nationally-recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued to all successful participants issued by Safeguard Training and Services (RTO 90987).
