About the course

This qualification is suitable for people working in a Work Health and Safety (WHS) role who work to provide leadership and guidance to others, in work areas where you are assisting with responding to incidents, contributing to implementation and maintaining WHS consultation, participation processes and assisting with compliance of WHS laws.

- WHS Officer  

Teacher Professional Development: 

Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety BSB41419 may contribute 40 hours of NESA Elective PD for NSW Teachers towards maintaining Teacher Accreditation.  

Smart and Skilled Funding:

This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.

​Eligibility:

- 15 years old or over

- no longer at school

- living or working in NSW

- an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen

To gain the Qualification – 10 Units must be completed – consisting of 5 core and 5 elective units. At least 3 units marked * need to be completed.  

Core Units 

BSBWHS412 Assist with workplace compliance with WHS laws 

BSBWHS413 Contribute to implementation and maintenance of WHS consultation and participation processes 

BSBWHS414 Contribute to WHS risk management 

BSBWHS415 Contribute to implementing WHS management systems 

BSBWHS416 Contribute to workplace incident response  

Elective Units 

BSBINS401 * Analyse and present research information 

BSBWHS418 * Assist with managing WHS compliance of contractors 

BSBWHS419 * Contribute to implementing WHS monitoring processes 

BSBWHS431 * Develop processes and procedures for controlling hazardous chemicals in the workplace 

BSBWHS516 Contribute to developing, implementing and maintaining an organisation’s WHS management system  

Study Duration 

5-week program (1 day / week face-to-face workshops) - participants may dial into these sessions 

Assessments must be completed within 12 – 24 months  Orana Skills Centre are in a working partnership with Training Education and Management Services (TEAMS) RTO 91852, which means we can provide Nationally Accredited Training.
