As we welcome the New Year, I would like to wish everyone in Dubbo and across the region a happy, healthy and safe year ahead.
2026 marks an exciting milestone for us, with the official opening of Orana Skills Centre in Dubbo on 5 January. This new centre has been purpose-built to support local businesses, workers and professionals with high-quality WHS, risk, audit and professional development training, delivered right here in the region.
A new hub for WHS, risk and professional development in Dubbo
Orana Skills Centre has been established to meet a growing need in regional NSW for practical, high-quality training that goes beyond ticking compliance boxes.
We specialise in risk management and critical risk education, offering training that helps businesses understand not just what they need to do, but why it matters and how to do it well. Our focus is on building safer, stronger and more capable workplaces through education that is practical, relevant and grounded in real-world experience.
Free Mental Health First Aid in January
To start the year by giving back to the community, we are proud to be offering FREE Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses in January.
Mental health remains one of the most significant challenges facing workplaces and communities. Providing people with the skills to recognise, support and respond to mental health issues can genuinely save lives. Places are limited and filling quickly, so early booking is essential.
WHS Inductions that actually meet your obligations
One of our flagship offerings is our WHS Induction training.
A quick tour of the workplace or being shown where the amenities are located is not a WHS induction under NSW legislation. Businesses remain exposed if workers have not been formally inducted into hazards, emergency procedures and safety systems.
Our WHS Induction course is designed to meet employer obligations while being practical, engaging and relevant for workers. This is an ideal option for businesses onboarding new starters or refreshing existing workers at the start of the year.
Professional development courses starting in January
January is a big month at Orana Skills Centre, with a full calendar of professional development courses already underway. These include:
Risk Bowtie Analysis
Critical Control Management
Psychosocial Risk Management and Risk Register Workshops
Risk Owner and Critical Control Owner training
Incident Investigation and ICAM
Health and Safety Representative and Committee training
Risk and Incident Management System Auditing
Drug and Alcohol Testing
Cert IV Training and Assessment
We specialise in risk management, with particular strength in:
Bowtie risk analysis
Critical control identification, performance standards and verification
Psychosocial risk management that goes beyond generic approaches
These courses are designed for business owners, leaders, supervisors, safety professionals and anyone responsible for managing risk in their organisation.
From January 2026, all of our HSR, Safety Committee, Risk and Critical Control Management training will include National Units of Competency!
Orana Skills Centre are in a working partnership with Training Education and Management Services (TEAMS) RTO 91852 who will be the issuer of Academic Transcripts and Qualifications.
January courses are filling fast
With the New Year approaching and many organisations planning their training calendars, places across our January courses are filling quickly. If you are looking to upskill your team, meet compliance obligations or invest in your own professional development, now is the time to secure your place.
Orana Skills Centre is proud to bring this level of training and expertise to Dubbo and the wider region. We look forward to supporting safer workplaces, stronger systems and more confident people throughout 2026 and beyond.
Before you lock in your training plans for the year, have you checked whether your team genuinely understands their risks and controls, or are you relying on outdated or informal practices?
Places are limited and demand is high, so early booking is strongly recommended.
