About the course
This course covers the skills and knowledge to confine small emergencies in a facility, for occupants who need first attack firefighting skills. You learn to prepare for emergency situations, identify and assess an emergency, safely confine it, use initial response equipment, and report on the facility's emergency response.
Small emergencies in a facility include incidents such as:
- a small fire that can be controlled with a fire extinguisher
- a chemical spill that can be controlled with the facility's personal protective clothing and equipment and a spill kit
- a vehicle accident with no significant injury or damage
The course covers facilities as specified in Australian Standards AS 3745-2010 and AS 4083-2010, and applies to employees in workplaces in every industry.
